<\/a>On June 1, I noticed a small bundle of sticks in the sago palm outside of my kitchen window.\u00a0 As I watched, a pair of mockingbirds returned with a few more sticks and began construction on their nest.\u00a0 I’ve decided to document their progress and new family.<\/p>\n

June 1 – Some sticks<\/p>\n

June 2 – Looking more like a nest<\/p>\n

June 4 – I couldn’t get a clear shot but there’s a piece of my yarn in there.\u00a0 I offered up a clump of scrap yarn and I think they tried to placate me by using one piece.<\/p>\n

June 5 – Two eggs<\/p>\n

June 6 – Three eggs<\/p>\n

I’ve been trying to get a picture of mama sitting on her nest, but she flies off rather quickly when I come out the back door.\u00a0 I can’t wait until the eggs hatch and we have little birdies hanging outside our kitchen!\u00a0 I’m a tiny bit concerned about how she will react if Bean goes outside on her own, however, because mockingbirds can be rather nasty.\u00a0 Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that I don’t have to worry about that!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
