{"id":101,"date":"2011-03-03T12:58:45","date_gmt":"2011-03-03T19:58:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eatknitlove.com\/?p=101"},"modified":"2011-03-03T12:58:45","modified_gmt":"2011-03-03T19:58:45","slug":"a-mardi-gras-warning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eatknitlove.com\/?p=101","title":{"rendered":"A Mardi Gras Warning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Okay, so I have a couple of things that I believed in rather strongly.\u00a0 The first is that I would never share my private blog on Facebook.\u00a0 What if I wanted to b*tch anonymously about you guys after all?\u00a0 The other is that people who have had the phrase &#8220;cautionary tale&#8221; applied to them or their children should refrain from doling out parenting advice.\u00a0 But here I am, sharing my blog on Facebook and I am about to apply that descriptor to myself and then proceed to give y&#8217;all some advice.\u00a0 Hypocrisy, thy name is Sarah today. Oh, for those of you joining us from FB, please do not use my kids&#8217; real names in the comments.\u00a0 Thanks!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eatknitlove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5650.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-102\" title=\"Bubba &amp; Bear\" src=\"https:\/\/eatknitlove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5650-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eatknitlove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5650-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/eatknitlove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5650-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyhow,\u00a0today started out as a very good day.\u00a0 Bean had her pre-school Mardi Gras parade this morning and it was a beautiful day.\u00a0 While we were waiting for her to come by in her wagon pulled by an obliging 8th grade &#8220;tractor&#8221; I snapped this shot of Bubba with his first Mardi Gras teddy bear.\u00a0 We all love when our kids catch the stuffed animals from the parades.\u00a0 We beg the riders for them and hold up our babies to show how cute they are and how deserving they are of these Made in China stuffed goodies.\u00a0 I loved this picture and thought it was SO cute.<\/p>\n<p>A few minutes later, after Bean had gone by in her &#8220;float&#8221;, I looked down at Bubba and noticed that his bear had no eyes.\u00a0 Hmmm, that&#8217;s strange.\u00a0 Then I thought about it and realized that Bean&#8217;s teacher had been standing next to us, she probably thought they were a choking hazard and pulled them out for him.\u00a0 So, I didn&#8217;t worry about it too much.\u00a0 The kid was fine, after all.\u00a0 Anyhow, a little while later, Bubba was fussing and I went to pull him out of his stroller for a little bit of arm-time.\u00a0 That&#8217;s when I saw it.\u00a0 The little plastic eye.\u00a0 Just one of them.\u00a0 Oh. Sh*t!\u00a0 I searched his seat and couldn&#8217;t find the other one.\u00a0 There was only one place it could be.\u00a0 So, I immediately called his pediatrician&#8217;s office and waited for the doctor to call me back to see how we should proceed.\u00a0 Yes, I know what you&#8217;re thinking, I should just wait for nature to take its course.\u00a0 But look at the ends of the eye pieces in the picture below.\u00a0 They are pointy.\u00a0 They could easily puncture his bowels.\u00a0 Fotunately, we were past the choking risk, the thing was gone, but there was so much more to worry about.\u00a0 Plus, how would they do an x-ray to find the thing.\u00a0 It&#8217;s plastic, probably wouldn&#8217;t show up.\u00a0 Oh Lord!\u00a0 I was freaking out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eatknitlove.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/IMG_5775.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103\" title=\"Look Ma!
